With continuous R&D, developers have been able to work with very low analyte concentration, simplifying collection & preparation process.
These tests are less invasive and more convenient for the end-user compared to other screening methods.
Choosing the Right Components is Critical
In the lateral flow assays, selecting the right components for assay design is essential, including solid materials – membranes and pads used as sample pads, conjugate pads, and absorbent pads.
Choosing the most appropriate sample pad for the intended application can reduce the burden on the development scientists for major adjustment in biochemical formulation.
Axiflow is a leader in the manufacturing of key components for rapid diagnostic tests, and our comprehensive portfolio of sample pads are extensively used in lateral flow assay development and manufacturing, capable of responding to differentiated needs.
Different Types of Sample Pad
Axiflow sample pads are made of 3 different materials and come in different thickness & porosity. We can recommend different sample pads based on sample type, sample volume and assay assay quantification requirement.
Micro-Glass:Glass fibresprovide efficient sample filtration of samples like plasma, serum or low-volume whole-blood; removing cells that could affect membrane flow and interact with the reading of the test result. Our proprietary pre-treatment further filters the sample enabling specific binding on the assay.
Synthetic: This provides another source of fibre material with a more porous structure; different interaction compared to Glass fibre material may be observed.
They are most cost-effective compared to glass-fibre and are widely used for large molecule, fast-flow assay requirement.
Fibre Blend: This material gives a wider pore size distribution than pure fiber and it is ideal for whole-blood filtration to limit pressure in the fiber pores, avoiding Hemolysis, the destruction of red blood cells.
It is widely used for RBC separation in assays like HIV, Dengue, HCV, Syphilis among others.
Sample Type | Recommended Grade |

Serum, Pasma | Glass Fiber: SP0203T, SP0206T |
Urine | Polyester: 16613T01, 16615T01 |
Milk | Glass Fiber: SP0203T, SP0206T |
Extracted Food, Grains | Polyester: 16615 |
